Christmas Fundraiser for 8 Walton County School District Families

The Annual May Day Festival Committee and the Army Cadets of Fort Rucker were surprised with a visitor from the north pole at Maude Saunders Elementary just a few days before Christmas. He met several children and brought many smiles on his quick trip. The children were able to give Santa their lists and snack on hot dogs and soda. WZEP came by for a live radio broadcast while members of the Liberty Fire Department and DeFuniak Springs Fire Department were on hand to assist Santa.

The Annual May Day Festival Committee and the Army Cadets of Fort Rucker would like to send a special thank you to the Liberty Fire Department for all their generous help and support. They would also like to thank Thriftway, McLain’s Restaurant, VFW, Ed’s Restaurant, DeFuniak Springs Fire Department, WZEP, and the Walton County School District for their participation during this year’s event. Without the help from those organizations, as well as  many other groups and individuals too numerous to list, it would not have been possible to provide Christmas (food and toys) to eight families “adopted” from the Walton County School District.

This is the first endeavor the Annual May Day Festival Committee has made during the Christmas holiday, but as with the history of this group they are already planning bigger and better things for next year.
